The mans name was Mr. Jayven Tan. One of the riches man in the whole of China. It was a well known household name in all forms of high society people, in other words, the rich and the famous. He was classified as one who shot to being an instant millionaire over night through his knowledge and investments in a firm on the stock market. To say that Mr. Jayven was not successful would be lying. Every cent and dollar he had earned was truly made all by himself. A brief history outlines his profits from the share markets leading him to open his first branch selling electronic devices. He bought at cheap rates and sold at high rates, as the market for such products grew, so did his business. It soon flourished into a big venture and shops like these opened everywhere, all under the name of Jayven and Co. Around the whole of China were his stores, it was not soon before he made his first 20 million.
Mr. Jayven had decided to retire early and enjoy the rest of his life. Another thing I did not mention was that he was a bachelor, he was unsuccessful in finding a soul mate. Most women who went out with him merely eyed his money, all were gold diggers. Mr. Jayven was not really good looking and he never bothered with going to a plastic surgeon. He was a simple man with simple ambitions which had led him to be a wealthy yet kind gentleman. He believed god had made all of us the way he wanted and altering what god had gave us was wrong.
Mr. Jayven had a typical Chinese nose which was far smaller than others and flared up like a missile and beady little eyes with black pupils which he saw through his glasses which were black and what he called “steady”. He had a wide forehead and bright pink lips. His teeth was yellowish white and he had strongly suspected people who had perfect white teeth, he once thought of them as fake teeth. He also did not trust people who were too handsome or too pretty. Mr. Jayven was considered tall among the Chinese standing at 1.8 meters.
The loneliness of being a bachelor soon came creeping to him. His friends had noticed him and had suggested him spending his money cruising around the world. Many told him to get a private jet but he insisted on traveling the normal way through an airline company. His first destination was to be Hawaii where many people had spoke of its vast relaxing beaches and the warm sun combined with the sound of the ocean water gently hitting the shore. He needed company and so asked his best friend Thomas along with him, Thomas was a same business man but he was not so lucky in getting cash.
Both had arranged to meet at the china airport at 12 noon on February the second. The flight would be 19 hours long. Jayven had long prepared his legs for the long flight. He had his chauffer driven porche park at the entrance of the air port as his driver waved him good bye and luck for a peaceful flight. Jayven was dressed in a very simple manner. In short Bermudas that were three quarter long decorated with flowers and a casual shirt which bore the words: ‘I am Single, So What? ‘He looked like any other typical Chinese who went to the nearby market. Jayven never believed in branded stuff and the only thing branded on him was his Rolex watch which was triple plated with titanium and attached with two diamonds. A person could spot the shining watch a mile away. Many thought it was just a fake.
Jayven strolled in normally, trying not to attract attention to himself. Thomas had said to meet him at the fast food chain MacDonald’s first for a light lunch before proceeding to the departure hall. It was crowded just like any other Saturday. He found himself a nice spot and settled in with his luggage. Jayven decided to wait for his friend before ordering. He did not frequent fast-food joints and did not know what was nice on the menu. His friend was soon spotted arriving like a traveling businessman, dressed in a suit and a matching tie. They exchanged words of greeting and Jayven decided it was his job to call the waiter. Before he could wave his hands for one, Thomas quickly told him not to and explained to him it was a self-service venture. They duo soon got their meals and was tucking into them.
“Hawaii is pretty fine, with the sand, the sun and the super hot babes tanning.”
“I can’t wait.”
“I went there last year with my wife and kids, we had a great time.”
“When are we checking in again?”
“1:30 at the departure hall gate 7”
“Oh alright, its about 1 now, how bout we check in early?”
“No problem”
And so they made their small journey through the big airport to their respective gate. The airport was newly renovated, it gave the type of modern look to tourists, the walls were painted bright blue while the floor was in a coat of white, on the walls were different patterns that highlight the attractions of the island, for one thing that was weird, the lights were yellowish-white which gave you a peaceful feeling. Both men strolled casually through to the gate with their stomach full of fried chicken. Their eyes casually browsed the shops there, souvenir shop, bakery, florist, souvenir shop again, bookshop and others. After waltzing down their the white road that led to gate 7, they reached there right on 1:25. They pushed only a trolley for both their luggage, as it was much easier pulling one trolley than two, besides, Jayven being one man on the plump side, did not offer to help pull the trolley along. Around four policemen and airport security lined the departure hall where passports were first checked and where the luggage would also be screened for illegal items such as drugs.
Both men went in when a hand landed on Jayven’s shoulder, he looked up. It was a policeman with a gun in his side pocket. No doubt a desert eagle. Dressed in a smart blue uniform, he looked mean as the devil. A startled Jayven trembled slightly before asking why he had been stopped.
“Sending your brother off? You can only send until here, we don’t allow people not taking the flight to go in the hall.”
Jayven was stunned for a moment before the blood drained back into his cheeks and his temple boiled.
